Whoohoo! It's this type of news that makes me eager to celebrate March 26th. The news? We have an officiant. - one of our good friends Mikey. He's the husband of the groomswoman - Jack's might-as-well-be sister, Jamie.
The circumstances of finding out that Mikey was ordained - not so beuno. After passing out, losing feeling in his leg, having emergency surgery on his neck - we spent a lot of time with our friends in the hospital this weekend. Jamie has been by his side every day - she's an awesome person, a caring friend, and a great wife.
We gave the guys some time to talk and we stepped out for some coffee. Jamie started asking about all of our wedding plans and one thing led to another. She told me that Mikey was ordaned and had performed ceremonies before. Oh, my excitement. After talking with Jack that night, we agreed that Mikey would be the best man for the job. We asked him together the next day- almost giddy. He said YES.
Considering everything Mikey has been through in the last few days - he's doing remarkably well. Doctors say 3-4 weeks at a PT center to gain back his functionality. It's hard on him, Jamie, and the kids - but we are all so glad that things aren't any worse. I can't wait to see Jamie on Jack's right and Mikey in front of us - and then them and the rest of our friends enjoying BBQ and dancing later that evening.
Hang in there Mikey!
